Description

This is Erandorel, or in Elven 'Peaceful Rest'. It is an ancient longsword from the beginning of the second half of the Necrite Wars, and bears the sigil of the watchful eye on it's pommel. Like most elven blades the predate the end of the Necrite Wars, there is a strong nature design to the weapon, with a leaf blade, intricate vines etching on the crosspiece and the stylized opening bud of the pommel. The weapon is electum plated with golden highlights and a mythril blade and is said to glow blue when near undead. It's most effective power however, was to allow the souls of those slain with the weapon to remain at peace, unable to be brought back into undeath, or even resurrection.

Erandorel was forged in the later half of the Necrite Wars to combat Eldine’s undead forces. It was named after what it was to give to the risen elven undead, peaceful rest. Though it was forged to play a major part in the wars, it was unfortunately lost in the first battle it was carried into. The elven bladesinger Ketherin Galannor was slain while buying time for his comrades as he held off wave after wave of skeleton warriors before turning the blade on himself. The blade lay buried under the shattered bones of its foes for years before being rediscovered by an elven warrior who claimed it as his own, returning to the city soon after. A weapon such as Erandorel attracts much notice however and the warrior soon found himself beset by thieves at almost every turn. Fearing for his life, he contacted a local battlemage clan to take possession of the blade and return it to the elven court. When the representative arrived the warrior was dead and Erandorel missing. Rumors filtered through the years placing the blade in the hands of a paid assassin or group of assassins whose services were very costly, but thanks to Erandorel, very effective. It is unknown how the current bearer of the blade came by it, save that she seems to only hold it in trust. An elven ranger carries the blade in the forests where the Necrite Wars occurred, but does not wield it. She says only that she holds it in trust for the one who will come and wield the blade. An exceptional swordswoman, she has successfully killed or driven off all those attempting to take the blade by force. And so Erandorel waits in capable hands for its next wielder to bear it in battle.
