This is the Nameless Blade. Not that the weapon does not possess a name, but that no one has ever been able to discover it. Forged with a blade of both silver and cold iron in an unusual fashion, the weapon 's blade seems to swim across the senses, never being fully focused. When forged, the sword was created to have a full blade of silver and a full blade of cold iron, existing simultaneously in the same space through magic, and thus cannot be seen clearly by the naked eye. Wielded currently by an elven hunter of undead named Galen, it serves in the same manner as all his tools, and he remains unconcerned about it's name or origins.
The Nameless Blade has been in existence for an unknown period of time. As there is no clues in the weapon’s manufacture that lend themselves to the discovery of its origin it is unlikely that anyone will ever know. Therefore, the account of the Nameless Blade’s history will deal with incident’s recorded by scholars in with it appeared. The first located account of the blade dates back to the very beginning of the Reign of Fire when the Necromancer Lords were first being overthrown. A ‘Flame of Righteousness,’ the name given to those that actively hunted the Necromancers, whose name was recorded in some works are Harren and in others as H’Harn was said to wield a weapon whose blade shimmered across the vision of man and was marked by a black sun on the hilt. This individual, who was most likely an elf or half elf judging by the name, was credited with the destruction of the Shadowflame Fortress, a bastion of the Necromancers’ power and one of the last strongholds held by their kind, as well as other great deeds in the name of the Black Lion. The presence of an elf, or even a half elf working for the freedom of the human race at that time was unusual and it is speculated by scholars that this Harren might have actually been Arumthor, the half elven sorcerer friend to the Black Lion himself, under an assumed name. The sword falls into deeper obscurity at this time and does not resurface until the documentation of an old tribal story of the Gnoll tribes. It recounts of a time an undead dracolich called ‘Bonetooth’ by the gnoll tribes came to the forests of Tengaar. Unable to protect themselves from the fang and claw of an undead foe, they sought guidance from their ancestors and asked the totem spirits to aid their cause. A vision was granted to the shamans of a blade that held the dark of the earth and the silver of the moon to bring rest to the undying. The legend goes on to say that twelve young warriors set out on the path to find the blade and of the perils they overcame through the use of trickery, skill, and companionship before finding the blade ‘deep within the embrace of the earth’ and are tested in turn by the mother Gaia to determine the most worthy bearer. The chosen warrior refuses to accept the weapon alone however, stating that his brothers aided him in the quest and are just as worthy, thus passing the final test of humility and brotherhood. Together the twelve brothers confront the dracolich, each using the skills they possess to defeat it together with the killing blow from the sword almost an afterthought. The legend does not state what happens to the blade afterwards however and so the weapon is again lost in history. Somehow it ended up in the ruins of an ancient Elven fortress, most likely brought in by an adventurer who perished at the hands of the Undead that dwelt within. There it was claimed by an Elven slayer of the Undead known as the Hunter. The Hunter is a relentless killing machine of the Undead, he stops at nothing, knows no limits and has no compunctions about killing anyone who stands in the path between him and his foe, though he also will not bring harm to anyone who peacefully allows him to continue the hunt against his chosen prey. The blade currently resides at his hip and it is unlikely that he will soon give it up to another.
