Description

One of my more unusual blades, this one is crafted by Elves who use magical song to craft, singing the items into shape without the use of tools or anvil. It was recently redesigned using inspiration of a sword design from the Dragon Age: Origins game.

The weapon named Falshiara, or ‘Storm Talon’ was crafted by the reclusive Wild elves that dwell in the forests of Ar'than in the free lands of the west. Always vigilant against the threat of human loggers the elves of the forest crafted Falshiara as a warning and a defense. Wishing to dissuade the humans from their efforts, the elves brought to bear the most savage powers of nature they knew of, the raging storm. The sword was fashioned by the weapon smiths of the tribe from the ivory horn of a wyvern that had been slain by the hunters and decorated by the most skilled of artists within the tribe. Though the blade was powerful within itself, the true power of the storm was to be borne by a blue diamond, which would then be embedded within the pommel of the sword, surrounded by the teeth of the great beast. The Warleader of the tribe was a Battlemage, and was in the process of enchanting the gem when word came of an invasion on the northern border of the forest. He and the other warriors departed swiftly to defend the trees, carrying the gem in a pouch around his neck. Unfortunately the Battlemage died that day, defending a grove of Gingko Dryads from the axes of the humans. The gem was lost, taken as spoils of war by the humans and leaving Falshiara incomplete. Though the full power of the sword was not awakened, it was still a weapon to be feared as the human would soon learn. Wielded by the Warleader, it defended the tribes from the humans until the day arrived that was long in coming. An envoy representing the humans of the regions came to the borders of the forests. Before the sentries he removed his shirt and all his finery before smearing white chalk mixed with water upon his forehead and breast. He then dropped to his knees in supplication, arms spread out wide. The elves, seeing this human asking for parley in the manner of their people, sent word to their leaders. The Warleader and Clan chief came to where the human knelt and spread mats of woven reeds before him. Sitting before the human, they placed a bowl of fresh fruit and bread between them as well as a pot of hot tea. They would listen to the human with trust, as he had trusted them to come. The human spoke of an agreement that the humans wished to arrange. They would stop logging the woods of the forest and honor the presence of the elves within, but wished for something in return. The humans desired a path marked through the woods, in whatever manner and direction the elves wished, that would guide the humans through to the other side safely. At first the elves were reluctant to allow the humans within the borders of their homes, decades of defending their homeland weighing heavily against the humans. The ambassador was willing to compromise on all points however and the agreement was made. Markers of stone lead a path through the trees, and only those who stayed within their boundaries were safe. Any who would stray from the path risked the end of their life at the point of an elven arrow or sword. There would be campgrounds along the path where travelers could rest for the night, but there would be no fire permitted within the forest. In exchange, the elves vowed to protect any traveler who obeyed the pact from any dangers the forest might have for them and would provide water and food for the travelers at the campgrounds. An additional arrangement was made that day as well. The Clan chief said that the elves only wished to be left alone, untainted in their ways, but would come to the campgrounds on the day counted longest of the seasons to trade with the humans. As a pledge of this pact, the elves gifted the envoy with a necklace of turquoise, ivory, and silver. The human in turn placed a large box of rosewood and mother of pearl before them. The Clan chief opened the lid to see a sword of finest steel within an ebon wood sheath. Inscribed on the blade in the language of the elves was the phrase “My blood for your trust.” The human swore that if the pact were ever broken, then a member of his family would come to pay blood price on this sword. Weapons of steel were scarce within the people of the Wild elves, and that the human would swear such an oath, to pledge his life and his honor to the blade for his people made the gift a hundredfold greater. The Warleader took up the blade as the traditional weapon of his position. Thus began the life of what is now known as the Greenheart Path. The blade Falshiara continued to be used by the elves of the forest, given to those found worthy to bear the blade in defense of the forest. It resides now with a young centaur girl named Frostfire who was adopted by the clan and raised since colthood within their ways. Wary of strangers and especially humans, she patrols the forest against any threat she may find.
Of the gem that housed part of the raging storm, it was said to have become the centerpiece of a fabulous necklace, a choker fit for a queen, and it sparkled with the lightning fires within. If the gem ever were to become united with the sword, the very skies themselves would rage against the foes of the elves.
